A little hickup with pre-arrival communication, but great place, great staff.

The overwater bungalows are great, as well as location and food. Ron from the reception was exceptional - a true professional and great person who makes you feel at home and well taken care of, same with service by Mere. Overall, I would have given 10 points - if it had not been for pre-arrival communication.

Communication and planning ahead of trip was unprofessional - by Joseph the alleged supervisor (not sure why he has that position). I got no answer regarding the two boat bookings (only upon insisting), and no useful help to book two different boat tours (minimum effort approach at best). I had to insist to get answers to my questions. There would never be even only the hint of an apology for the miscommunication. For 750 USD/night that is inappropriate. The boat tours worked out only once on the spot, when Ron helped me to find a different second boat tour. I was lucky that option was still available short notice. The alleged concierge website does not allow for registering the arrival and departure flight, which is not practical, and there is in total too many standard/repeating messages coming from the hotel. Not sure in light of all of this the 8 is actually merited.

Amazing location on the lagoon, had bikes, snorkel/mask, reef shoes and paddle boards provided for each room, kayaks also available. Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast included as well.

A fantastic place to relax and unwind!

The resort was lovely, the staff attentive and swimming with the fish in the lagoon outside our room was magical! Biking, swimming and paddle boarding by day and cocktails by night - what's not to like :-)

Excellent place for honeymoon, relax or just to escape from everyday problems. We will be back!

Amazing hotel. The island is like a postcard, beautiful! Everything was excellent and made our stay unforgettable. Staff was very helpful, food was deliciuos, and the views were breathtaing. We will come there again in the future.

Perfect treat for an anniversary

Lovely resort, lots of activities, free hire of bikes and kayaks! Staff were amazing and the room was gorgeous!

The food wasn’t great- much preferred heading to the restaurant across the way for dinner.

Very Good

Beautiful location and great rooms. Amazing staff. The local string bands in the evening were great.

The food in the restaurants could be better. The guy on the keyboard for music on some evenings was AWFUL - like listening to someone using pre-sets on a Casio keyboard when they’re learning. Could be more environmentally conscious considering the hotels remote location - avoid using small single use toiletries and don’t put every light and fan / air conditioning unit on in empty rooms pre-arrival

Really stunning but paying for 5* resort when its more like 3*

We stayed in an overwater bungalow, which was amazing, although they are on the windy side of the island so we weren't able to make the most of it. Really loved the outdoor shower, and the bikes outside our room. The staff were exceptional, especially Wise who made our trip! The island is absolutely stunning. There is the option to receive a credit to not have room service which we really liked.

For the price of NZD$1200 per night I expected 5* star accommodation but unfortunately I was left feeling slightly disappointed. WiFi has to be purchased which is expensive and patchy. Booking.com listing says tea/coffee maker in all rooms but there was just a kettle with instant coffee. The coffee served at breakfast was also not great. Putting a Nespresso machine or similar in rooms would be a great improvement. The food was disappointing. Very basic breakfast options included in the continental breakfast and you have to pay for a cooked breakfast, which is crazy considering the price paid for the room. There was not enough variety with the daily lunch and dinner menu. It would be great if there was a unique daily special. We have stayed in far more remote places and had much better food. Unfortunately the Flying Boat Beach Bar & Grill has been knocked down to make room for more bungalows, so there is now only one place to eat. This was only told to us on check-in. The in room brochures hadn't been updated to reflect this, so the meal times are not correct. It's even still listed as a place to dine on the website and on the booking.com listing. There are many notices about being environmentally friendly, however there are miniature toiletries in the bathroom and all lights, fans and aircon were going full blast when we checked in. It would be great if they would move to large refillable toiletries to reduce single use plastic.

We had a great and relaxing stay.

Dinner was always very good and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The location was great. Views were great and you can go to uninhabited, lush islands via a short kayak ride across the lagoon. We preferred our Beach front bungalow to the deluxe bungalows. Views are nicer from the deluxe ones but the Beach front bungalows are more private.

Included breakfast was okay but for the price I would have hoped the warm options and barista style coffee to be included but both had to be purchased extra

We loved pretty much everything about the resort, the staff were wonderful, facilities were great and the location was perfect.

The only thing I could say was probably the pictures that reflected what our beach front would be from our room on the booking site to what it was fairly different.

Wonderful

Child free resort, which means quiet atmosphere and respectful guests - amazing location with stunning views. Loved that the room came with bikes, kayak and paddleboard, snorkel gear and the lagoon just meters away from your bed. Great way to encourage you to explore at your own pace if you don't have planned activities everyday.

WiFi not included and gets quite pricey if you like to keep accessing your social media, emails etc and don't have a local eSIM or separate phone plan. Would have loved a few more options on the dinner menu but what was offered was very tasty.

Despite taking 14 hours and three flights, the Private Island Resort makes all stress disappear

Breakfast was fresh and healthy, and a fantastic view of the lagoon from the terrace. Staff were so attentive and just made the entire holiday an awesome experience. The villa we had was on the beach front and opening the sliders to have the beach and lagoon in front of you was amazing.

I didn't like the fact I had to come home!!

We had a very relaxing time in a beautiful resort, with excellent service from all the staff.

The staff were all very engaging, happy, and delightful and always willing to provide excellent service at all times. There was a great feeling of a very happy team, who made our stay a very positive experience. The environment and paddle boards were great fun.

We used the bikes and the clamp bolts used to adjust the seats on both bikes were ceased in place, so I could not tighten them up, so this made them difficult to adjust either upwards or downwards. were very loose . There were no small size beach shoes for my wife who has small feet, and those available were not in good condition.
